SUSTAINABILITY
COTTON
Cotton represents approximately 70% of our company's product volumes. Organic cotton comes from non-genetically modified plants, treated exclusively with natural products, without the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. United Colors of Benetton sources organic cotton from certified supply chains, which are controlled by independent organizations that trace the entire manufacturing process, from the plant to the packaging of the finished garment, through harvesting, the production of the thread and the fabric. All our organic cotton garments contain at least 50% organic cotton. Recycled cotton comes from pre-consumer waste (production leftovers) and post-consumer waste (fabrics and finished garments that have reached the end of their life). Once collected and sorted by color, the waste is cut into small pieces, frayed and reused for new productions of already colored yarns. To ensure a finished product with high quality, resistance and durability characteristics, it is necessary to add virgin cotton fibers (or other fibers). All our recycled cotton garments contain at least 20% recycled cotton, coming from certified supply chains.
